Laser Engraving

Laser engraving is our most versatile process at New Direction.  It uses a very finely focused beam of light to cut some materials or create an image onto many different products.

We typically use our 1 foot by 2 foot laser engraver for most projects, but we do have 4 foot by 8 foot laser engraver that is used for larger projects.  We have made  replacement antique windows and glass panel designs for hoosiers and put designs onto glass front doors on our large format engraver.  We also have engraved a 4 x8 foot tempered smoke glass table top with custom  designs around the edge.   The possibilites are endless.

On our smaller laser engraver, in addition to flat surfaces, we can do rotary items such as beverage glasses, beer mugs, wine bottles, and more.   Many customers bring in a design element to be incorporated onto the item to be engraved, such as wedding invitations. With a special material, we can mark on stainless steel travel mugs, knives and other items.  Laser engraving names or business identification works beautifully on anodized items such as flashlights.

All materials respond to laser engraving in its own way.  Our idea gallery shows some of the beautiful applications lasering offers wood, glass, acrylic, fabric, coated metals, and stainless steel.

Although an engraved picture on marble usually have varying shades of  gray to create the image, our engrave staff person is also a talented artist.  She has discovered a way to bring beautiful color to laser engraved marble images that really makes them pop!

Some materials that can be laser etched are: slate, granite, cork, denim and  fleece material, paper, crystal, some plastics, corian, leather, and  nylon.  The list goes on almost forever.  Some of the same materials listed can also be laser cut into whatever shape you request.

Business uses for laser engraving include name tags, switch labels, indoor signage, safety signage, parts labeling, identification, sample parts, recognition items and awards, personalized gifts, and more.  Give us a call, or drop us an email if we may answer questions about your project.
