Judy recieved an award we made for her volunteering efforts with the Ruby’s Pantry. She was not aware she was to recieve this award. Several days later she came to see us. She had tears in her eyes and wanted to tell us how much it meant to her. She told me she had been volunteering for various organizations since childhood, and never recieved anything before this. This recognition made her feel so proud and anxious to do even more for the organization. You’ll never know how much a simple plaque or other recognition momento can lift someone’s spirits until you try it.
Judy wrote, ” All men, women, and children should be told their efforts are important. Just that pat on the back, that hanshake, the words “Thank You”, and ” Job well done”. Extend your selves as employers, supervisors, and leaders in the work a day world, or directors of volunteer organizations. This feeling that one recieves when getting an award and seeing the face of those giving is a blessing for both sides.”
Well said, Judy!
