What is a set up/ digitizing fee? Most projects require several hours of computer time before the process can be done. The digitizing or set up fee covers some of the time our artist puts into the design. Fees range from as low as $10 up to $50. A few designs may require a higher set up fee due to the complexities of the project. Keyboard lettering and names do not require set up fees.
Do I need to pay a digitizing fee for each process? Yes, because each process is run on different types of machinery, each process requires its own set up or digitizing. For instance, if you want a design to be embroidered onto a polo shirt and engraved onto a name tag, each would have a separate fee as they are two completely different processes.
If I make simple changes to my design, will I be charged again? You won’t be charged for another set up fee for that process unless the design changes significantly. We keep the designs on file for your future use.
Can I have the digitized file for another company to process? If you want us to digitize for another company to process, please inform us at the beginning so we can create the design in the format needed.
Do you have stock embroidery designs available? We have a stock catalog of embroidered designs called Dakota Collectibles, available for you to choose designs in almost any catagory. Most embroidery projects that use Dakota Collectible designs or stock lettering do not require a set up fee. Dakota designs may be used only for embroidery. If you choose to use their design elements for other purposes, for example on business cards or vehicle graphics, you must contact Dakota Collectibles for permission.
Can I bring in my business logo? Yes, if you have a crisp image we can digitize your logo for embroidery, engraving or sand etching. We prefer it in a jpeg ,or bmp format, but if that is not available, we can work from a crisp printed image. Some corporations have a disk available with the design or can send it to us via email. There would be no set up fee if a digitized design is provided by the customer.
Can you do copy writed logos? We can only do copyrighted logos if we have the written permission of the copy write owner. We cannot do pro football logos, or college and university logos.
Can you work from my photo? We can do several things from your photo. At times, we may need to do some photo touch up work for the best results. To have embroidery or engraving done from your photo, it needs to be as clear as possible, with few shadows. Sublimation process works well with photographs. You will get your photograph back undamaged with all of our processes. If the photo is from a professional, we must have permission from the photographer prior to working on the order.
Can I get just one item done? There is no minimum order at New Direction. We love larger orders as well.
How long does it take to get my order? We are usually able to complete orders within a week to one and a half weeks. It is best to plan early for Christmas, as we do get very busy starting in early to mid November. We try to accommodate last minute orders as best we can.
